First Congregational Church (FCC) is hosting noontime recitals on Fridays during Lent. At the March 2, 2012 recital Patricia Bowen, Organist of Trinity Lutheran Church in Midland, played Eleven Chorale Preludes, Op.122 by Johannes Brahms

March 16 - Jantz Black
March 23 - Dr. Steven Egler with assisting musicans James Hargett & Beverly Westervelt
March 30 - Nicholas Schmelter

All recitals will begin at 12:15pm and last approximately 30 minutes.

Polar Plunge 2012

The Special Olympics of Michigan hosted the 2012 Polar Plunge at Haithco Park in Saginaw, MI on February 25, 2012. Participants jumped into icy cold water in support of the organization's mission to "provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for all children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Athletes are given continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness and athletic skill, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community."

Saginaw Art Museum - Antique Roadshow-Style Appraise-a-thon

The Saginaw Art Museum hosted the Antique Roadshow-Style Appraise-a-thon event on February 4, 2012. The event was presented by Adomaitis Antiques and included Michigan Appraisers: Melodye Adomaitis, Rockwell Scherser, Richard Groening, Dennis Adomaitis, Laura Groening, Robert Ramsey, Suzanne Short, and Ronald Reece. Visitors brought items of all kinds to find out what they had and what the items might be worth. Some went home treasures and others went home with-well, let's just say if you like a painting that is the most important thing.

The Saginaw Knitting Club hosted their inagural gathering Saturday January 7, 2012 at Mission Sisters of the Holy Spirit. Beginners and pros knit and pearled the afternoon away.

The next meeting will be hosted January 21 and future meetings will be hosted every two weeks after that date at 1pm at Mission Sisters of the Holy Spirit located 1030 N. River Road, Saginaw, MI 48609. All welcome

Price Nature Center Snowshoeing/Hike in the Woods

Although there was no snow for snowshoeing, Price Nature Center proved to be a wonderful place for a wintertime hike.
